The biggest as they come.
In 1947 the Great Northern Railway took delivery of two massive 5,000 H.P. electric locomotives for the electrified mainline through the Cascade mountains between Wenatchee and Skykomish, Washington.
The 5018 and the 5019, classed as W-1’s, were the largest single engine electric locomotives built in the world.
Once the GN installed a ventilation system in Cascade Tunnel in 1956, all of the electric locomotives were retired. 5019 met it’s fate with the scrapper’s torch in 1959, but the 5018 was sold to the Union Pacific who used it as the middle unit in the experimental Coal Turbine, but was eventually scrapped in 1968.This model is a brass locomotive made by NJ Custom Brass in 1976 with a total production of 500 models.
Its a big engine, worthy of the legacy the W-1’s left behind.DavoDentetsu, RayronVR and 2 others-

That looks massive!
Is it the angel of the image, or is it larger than typical G scale?

Awesome model! Looks a lot like a Baldwin double ender that the CNJ had, only this is electric.
