Back in August, I visited the SVBM at Lathalmond, amongst the trade stalls was a Lima Torpedo Wagon, for £6, having wanted one for a few years, I bought it.
I had planned on weathering it, but some research online, and found that although it’s based on a French one, it wasn’t to far of a Distington built Torp, so I set about the work.
First I removed the data panel off the front, the lid and ladders, glued the body back together and began sanding.
Once the body was smoothed off from details, some plasticard was glued on the top, I had planned to use the original lid,but decided to make a simple disk one.
The main work is the housing box, which i glued plasticard on to make it more boxy and glued scrap bits then a cover on the front to give it a distinct angle look. Before skimming with filler.
I’m by no means a master at this stuff, but once done, painted and weathered it should look fairly okay. Now just need to build a Steelworks layout…
